Here at Thompson, we are committed to using sustainable principles as we aim to serve our core stakeholders: employees, customers, and suppliers, while also serving our community. Thompson Tractor is the authorized Cat® Dealer for Alabama and Northwest Florida, and the authorized Hyundai Lift Truck dealer for Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Thompson also provides equipment solutions from other manufacturers for the industrial, construction, material handling and farming industries within our territory.

Being a caring member of the local community is a long-term commitment for Thompson Tractor. Our aim is to be a responsible corporate citizen and contribute to a sustainable future.

Thompson Tractor celebrated a major milestone in 2019 with the succession of Lucy Thompson Marsh as the fourth generation of the Thompson family to serve as a Caterpillar Dealer-Principal. Moreover, Lucy is one of only five female Caterpillar Dealer-Principals in the United States.

Safety

We believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility, so we make it part of our core culture and have built a no-compromise approach to our work. 

Our Job Hazard Analysis process brings focus to the hazards associated with the tasks that we perform resulting in the reduction of risks for many of our work elements. Focused initiatives at our branch locations continue to positively impact our safety results.

Because our employees are our most important resource, we value safety as a mindset and culture in all we do.

Community

The Thompson Foundation: Who are we?

The Thompson Foundation was established in 1997 by the ownership of Thompson Tractor Company, as an effort to serve the community and continue the philanthropic legacy of the founder, Hall W. Thompson. Among the family, there was a unanimous passion to contribute towards the greater good and unanimous belief that it is every person’s duty to help others. There are currently eight board members representing two generations of the Thompson family. The Board of Directors recognizes the ongoing need for support of nonprofit activities throughout various communities. The geographical footprint of Thompson Tractor Company serves as the guideline for where the efforts are directed: Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and Georgia.

Since originating in 1957, Thompson Tractor Company has had a strong partnership with United Way. In regards to the annual campaign, Thompson is considered a “Top 50 United Way Company”. United Way’s mission is to support health and human service programs within non-profit agencies that provide aid to those in need. All of our branches participate in the campaign and donate money towards their local United Way chapter, benefiting numerous agencies.

Employees have the opportunity to designate their contribution towards any number of agencies in which they have a strong passion. Each year we have an overwhelming amount of support. In 2020, with a record amount of donations totaling $387,515.
